1/10/2010: Happy New Year! We begin this new year with an update regarding the use of X-Ray Flourescent (XRF) Equipment and lab testing of sample drywall. Although the measurement of the Strontium levels is an effective way of detecting defective drywall, it is often times very costly and unpredictable. For example, of all of the homes identified as having defective drywall by Kross Inspectors, only 2 of those homes were found to have been built completely of one manufacturer's drywall. The remaining homes were found to be comprised of an average of (2) different manufacturer's drywall. With this in mind, the homeowner or potential buyer of a typical house would have to perform this XRF or Lab Sample Testing on approximately 200 pieces of drywall in order to receive credible results! With fees for this testing reaching up to $300 per test, this would add up to over $60,000!

With this in mind, we caution consumers to only rely upon a proven inspection protocol performed by objective and experienced Inspectors that provide credible results!
