On 6/11/2010, Louisiana amended and passed legislation that would prohibit insurance companies from dropping or not renewing coverage for homeowners who have Chinese Drywall in their houses. 

This is a significant win for Homeowners affected by this problem. However, the legislation does allow for insurers to raise rates on policyholders with Chinese Drywall.  

The legislation in Louisiana does provide security for Homeowners as insurers cannot cancel their coverage if they make a claim due to the affects of Chinese Drywall. 

Consumers in Florida eagerly await similar actions in this state.
