Chinese Dryall Inspection Licences and/or Certifiactions

I received a call from a concerned Realtor last week about what licences and/or certifications are required for an individual to perform Chinese Drywall Inspections. 

Surprisingly, there are currently NOT any local, state, or federal regulations regarding Chinese Drywall Inspections or Chinese Drywall Remediation Services.  This means that anyone can classify themself as an "Expert" in either field or both without having to go through any formal training or presenting experience qualifications! 

Further caution is warranted as more organizations surface that "Certify" Chinese Drywall Inspectors and Chinese Drywall Remediation Contractors.  Consumers and Real Estate Professionals should note that these "Certifications" are not endorsed or approved by any Government Agency. 

With Chinese Drywall being one of the most paramount concerns among Home Buyers today, the only way to ensure you are dealing with an Inspector that is "Qualified" to inspect for Chinese Drywall is to determine their level of EXPERIENCE.  Always ask how many Chinese Drywall Inspections the firm has conducted and whether they make final determinations of "Positive" or "Negative" in their inspection reports.  If they are unwilling to make a commitment in their Inspection report, they may not be experienced enough to perform the inspection.
